COLLABORATIVE LAW
The Collaborative Law approach can be used in marriage dissolution, child custody, possession and access, co-parenting issues, division of assets and liabilities, as well as in other family law aspects. The collaborative law process allows parties the opportunity to discuss the issues and reach a settlement without litigation, finding solutions to problems and focusing on the needs and interests of the parties and their children.
At the inception of the collaborative law process, the attorneys and parties agree, in a written contract, to share information about the case, including financial information, in an effort to resolve the dispute with respect and integrity.
Each party is represented by his or her own trained collaborative attorney during the collaborative law process. Often times, trained neutral experts such as financial planners or mental health professionals are hired to help with the settlement process.
The Collaborative Law process can be very successful for parties who are 100% committed to the process - thus allowing parties to end their marriage with respect and in a civilized manner.
